A ‘mega-mix’ of entrepreneurs and business celebrate the launch of local investment network

The launch of the Spark Angel network means access to much needed investment capital for innovative companies

Whitby, Ontario. September 26, 2012. Durham Startup Drinks brought the business community together at the newly renovated offices of 360 Incentives in Whitby to celebrate entrepreneurship in our region. It was also the perfect venue for Spark Centre, Durham’s Regional Innovation Centre to launch the Spark Angel Investor Network; a critical component of a vibrant innovation ecosystem for our region.

Thanks to host, Jason Atkins, CEO of 360 Incentives who welcomed the crowd and Dave Findlay, organizer of Startup Drinks, the event was a great success with great food, great company and a room full of local and GTA based investors, entrepreneurs and business people sharing business ideas and experiences.

“Jason Atkins is the quintessential entrepreneur”, says Martin Croteau, Executive Director of the Spark Centre. “He has taken his business to fifty plus employees in just four years and is a great example of a local success”. “Spark Centre’s objective is to support the creation and growth of more companies like 360 Incentives in Durham Region by getting them on right path to success and ready for investment”, says Martin.

The Spark Angel Investor Network launches in Durham

Spark Angel Network provides a much-needed source of private investment capital for high growth businesses in Durham and surrounding areas that create jobs and wealth in our communities.

Whitby, Ontario. September 20, 2012. The Spark Centre is pleased to announce the launch of the Spark Angel Network.

“An Angel Investor Network is a critical building block of a vibrant innovation community”, says Martin Croteau, Executive Director of the Spark Centre. “The launch of the Spark Angel Network means new and growing companies will have a source of private investment capital which up until now has been lacking in our region”.

As an integral part of the Spark Centre, the goal of the Spark Angel Network is to provide its members with access to quality investment opportunities while providing them a forum for sharing risk and expertise. As well as being an important source of investment capital, the Spark Angel Network is an opportunity for high net-worth individuals in our community to share their resources and business experience to help build sustainable, innovative companies that create high paying jobs.
